One of my favorite putting / chipping games for young kids, to teach them the concept of distance control and hitting the ball toward a target, is the ‘Feed the Animals’ game.
Grab various animal headcovers (you know you’ve got a few in the garage), and place them behind the hole as the picture below shows. Tell your child that the golf ball is a peanut (use a yellow ball if possible), and he had to use his/her putter to guide the peanut towards the hungry animal and make it disappear into it’s belly (the hole) in order to feed it.
Set up as many animals as necessary around the green…works every time.
